In a demonstration of his commitment to strengthening the state’s emergency response capabilities, Enugu State’s Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Barr. Chris-Roberts Ozongwu, welcomed delegates from the Enugu State Federal Fire Service to his office on Tuesday, December 3rd, at the State Secretariat in Enugu.

The meeting, which was led by State Controller DCF Ezeora Chinweuba Godwin, provided an opportunity for the Fire Service delegation to engage with the Commissioner and discuss pressing challenges facing the department.

During the visit, DCF Ezeora expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for his warm reception and acknowledged his dedication and support to the state. He also highlighted several challenges facing his office, including the need for fuel for fire trucks and requests for water refill coupons from the Water Board during emergencies.

In response, Barr. Ozongwu conveyed his pleasure at the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the state. He expressed his intent to strengthen ties with the Fire Service Department and pledged to connect with the Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Water and Waste, Mr. Andreas Gebauer, regarding the water supply for fire trucks.

As the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Barr. Ozongwu has been instrumental in shaping the state’s budget and economic policies. Recently, he presented the 2024 budget performance report, which showed a total expenditure outlay of N521,561,386,000.00. The state’s budget framework is designed to promote economic growth and development, with a focus on key sectors such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Barr. Ozongwu’s commitment to serving the state and addressing the challenges facing the Fire Service Department is a testament to his dedication to the people of Enugu State.
