In a continued show of commitment to infrastructural excellence, the Monitoring and Implementation Team of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, led by the Honourable Commissioner, Chief Barr. Chris-Roberts Ozongwu, embarked on a field assessment of ongoing urban development projects across Enugu State. The visit covered several strategic locations where Governor His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is effecting massive and visible transformations.

From Old and New GRA in Trans Ekulu to Independence Layout, Abakpa, Emene, Awkunanaw, Coal Camp, Achara Layout, Uwani, Garriki, Ogui-Asata Layout Zone, Thinkers’ Corner, New Haven, and beyond — the Governor’s urban renewal vision is rapidly materialising, street by street, community by community.

The sight that greeted the team was nothing short of impressive — extensive road rehabilitation and construction, modern drainage systems, high-quality concrete culverts, and even visible efforts toward restoring pipe-borne water to homes. For many residents, it was a dream finally coming true after years of neglect and infrastructural decay.

Speaking during the visit, Barr. Chris-Roberts Ozongwu commended the contractors for the quality and speed of work, stating that Governor Mbah’s administration is driven by results, accountability, and people-centered governance.

“This is not just about building roads; it’s about building communities, restoring dignity to our people, and setting the tone for a modern, livable Enugu State,” he remarked.

The air was filled with joy and gratitude as residents poured out to witness the visit and share their experiences. Many could hardly contain their excitement.

One of the most emotional testimonies came from Engr. Anya, a long-time resident of Trans Ekulu, who stated, “I have lived in this area since 1985. Governments have come and gone, but none have ever remembered that this part of Enugu exists. What Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is doing today is what we have prayed for decades. Every street is touched. It’s like waking up in a new world — this place now looks like a small London.”

Others from areas like Timber Shade, Pinnacle Road, and Ogui-Asata echoed similar sentiments. An elderly woman in Achara Layout said, “For the first time, our voices have been heard. We now walk on smooth roads and sleep without fear of flooding when it rains. Governor Mbah is indeed the answer to our prayers.”

Governor Mbah’s administration is clearly on a mission to rewrite the infrastructural story of Enugu State. Through inclusive planning, efficient monitoring, and transparent implementation, his government is laying a foundation for long-term development. The focus is not just on major roads but also inner streets that have for long suffered abandonment.

With this level of dedication and action, the slogan “Tomorrow is Here” has become more than a campaign phrase — it is now a lived reality for thousands across Enugu State.

The Monitoring and Implementation Team assured residents that work will continue uninterrupted and extended to more communities, ensuring that no area is left behind in the state’s transformative journey.

Indeed, Enugu is rising — and the people are proud to be part of this historical moment.
